I’m occasionally approached by charity’s and agency’s that require images for pieces that they are creating, the British Mountaineering Council are running a national campaign on conservation highlighting nesting restrictions for UK climbers.

My image of a Raven which I took in the mountains of wales during December was chosen.

The poster will be displayed at climbing walls throughout England & Wales, and contained in the next issue of Summit Magazine.

Following on from my last blog about the 7D Audio I delved a little more into this as I couldn’t wait for a firmware update, another way of tricking the camera’s AGC system is to feed a constant audio tone into a spare channel, I’ve tried this and it does work.
Here are two audio samples from the feed
Clean recording without tones
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
Recording with tones applied

Images below are the cables made up by Heath Robinson (Karl Batty) which includes a £9.50 mp3 player and a Sennheiser MKE300.

Channel 1 input from microphone from Channel 2 input MP3 with tones

Cables
You will need to check your volume output from the mp3 if its to loud the camera will lower the volume this will result in poor audio and lack of waveforms in your editing software. Audio tones were created with Audacity free sound editing software.
