You’d be wrong to think that the following images were shot on a remote Scottish highland.

Red Stag
Every year photographers descend on Bradgate Park, Leicestershire for the annual red deer rut hoping for that special shot ! (including me).

Bradgate Park
Bradgate comprises of 840 acres of land with grass, heath, bracken, rocky outcrops, nestled by River Lin. The Park also includes the ruins of Bradgate House, the birthplace and early home of Lady Jane Grey 1537 – 1554. (go-leicestershire)

Red Stag
Its an early start to photograph the deer before the general public arrive and move the deer back into the woods.

Red Stag smelling the air
The rut lasted around 2-3 weeks this year and I was lucky enough to get some shots but not the shot I was after, roll on next year !!
I hope the video below will give you a sense of sight and sound during the Rut.
If you are playing back in HD you may have to wait for the clip to load
Or alternatively switch off the HD setting.
Thanks Paul.
